DENVER–The New York Democratic delegation dedicated its Tuesday morning breakfast to “Women Making History.”

Addressing the delegates, Michelle Paige Paterson, New York’s first lady, thanked Hillary Clinton for putting the cracks in the “glass ceiling,” and spoke about how Michelle Obama’s speech changed the role of women in politics.

“We are also redifining the role of the first lady both in our states and in Washington, and anyone that didn’t know certainly found out last night watching Michelle Obama,” she said.

She addressed the issue of women quitting their jobs to support the family: “If I was the one now serving as Governor, no one would be asking David if he was going to quit his job.”

Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg then spoke to the delegation:

The tribute video to Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-Mass.)

DENVER–Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg, the daughter of former President John Kennedy, said people keep telling her it feels like 1960 again while introducing a tribute to her uncle, Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-Mass.).

“Everywhere I go in this country, people tell me that Barack Obama is making them feel hopeful the way they did when my father was president,” she said.

“I have never had someone inspire me the way people tell me my father inspired them, but I do now: Barack Obama,” she added.

She introduced a moving video of her Ted Kennedy, who is suffering from brain cancer and undergoing chemotherapy treatment: “And I know someone else who’s been inspired all over again by Senator Obama. In our family, he’s known as Uncle Teddy. More than any senator of his generation, or perhaps any generation, Teddy has made life better for people in this country and around the world.”
