Romney Attacks ‘Liberal’ Washington

ST. PAUL, Minn.–Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney ripped into what he called liberal Washington during his prime-time speech at the Republican National Convention.

“We need change all right – change from a liberal Washington to a conservative Washington! We have a prescription for every American who wants change in Washington – throw out the big government liberals and elect John McCain,” he said.

Romney Hosted At Luncheon With University Alum

MINNEAPOLIS–A University alum and former trustee with close ties to Republican candidate John McCain and many highly influential neo-conservatives hosted a lunch for former McCain rival Mitt Romney Tuesday at the Marriot here.

Mark Broxmeyer, a Long Island real estate developer who, while he served on the University’s Board of Trustees, was sued in May 2006 by Latino tenants of his for actions they said violated the Fair Housing Act. The case was settled out of court in November of that year.

Broxmeyer would not answer any questions from The Chronicle outside the luncheon as he walked with Romney to the elevator across a lobby area.
